Delta State Government Lauds Enterprising Spirit of Ndigbo, Emphasises Partnership for Economic Growth

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has commended the enterprising spirit of the people of Eastern Nigeria for their contributions to the country’s economy. The government made this statement during a meeting with the Chairman and members of Ohaneze Ndigbo Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts. Led by President Chief Chiedu Idama, the delegation visited Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, Senior Political Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Senator Aguariavwodo expressed the state government’s commitment to forging a strong partnership with Ohaneze Ndigbo and other investors to drive growth and economic development in Delta State. He encouraged Ndigbos to take advantage of the investor-friendly environment in the state and bring more of their businesses to Delta, emphasizing the importance of enterprise and wealth creation.

“I am very happy to receive you this day in my office and I thank you immensely for this visit and for your presentation,” stated Aguariavwodo. “I am always impressed whenever I am in the midst of the Ohaneze because of your enterprising spirit. I want to salute the enterprising spirit of the Igbo people because, in this world without enterprise or business, we cannot create wealth, and without wealth creation, you cannot have savings, and that is what you do every day.”

Acknowledging the instrumental role played by Ndigbos in the formation of the current government, Aguariavwodo assured them that their efforts would not be forgotten. He praised Governor Oborevwori as an action-oriented leader and promised to address their concerns promptly.

Aguariavwodo highlighted Delta State’s investor-friendly environment, particularly with the imminent completion of two bridges connecting Delta and Anambra. He urged Ndigbos, who already have substantial investments in the South West, to consider bringing their businesses to Delta—a state known for its peaceful atmosphere.

“We need to have your businesses and innovations established here because Delta is a peaceful state,” Aguariavwodo emphasized. “The last administration worked very hard for the peace we are enjoying today, and the Oborevwori administration will strive for even more, ensuring that businesses can thrive.”

Regarding the liberalization of the power sector in Nigeria, Aguariavwodo encouraged state governments and private sector investors to take advantage of the new opportunities and invest in the power sector without hindrance.

Chief Idama, representing Ohaneze Ndigbo, expressed their visit as a gesture of felicitation to Senator Aguariavwodo on his appointment as Senior Political Adviser, praising him for his well-deserved recognition. He also emphasized the group’s role in representing the interests of Ndigbos globally and commended the state government’s previous collaboration, particularly during the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

As the meeting concluded, both parties expressed optimism about future collaboration and the potential for further economic growth and development in Delta State through increased investment from Ndigbos and other investors.
