ANWAI/Nigeria: In a commitment to guarantee the enduring quality of projects slated for inauguration to commemorate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s 100 days in office, the Delta State Government is leaving no stone unturned.
The state’s Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made this assertion during a press interaction on Monday following an inspection of the projects earmarked for inauguration at Dennis Osadebay University in Anwai-Asaba.
Mr. Aniagwu, who led a team from the project inauguration committee, affirmed that their visit was at the directive of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to ensure that all concerns raised by the governor during his previous visit to the institution were adequately addressed. The governor’s primary concern is to ensure that all projects designated for inauguration during his first 100 days as governor are not only efficiently delivered but also stand the test of time.
He emphasized that the governor is keen to avoid any technical issues arising after the inauguration, which could impede people from utilizing the university’s facilities.
Accompanying Mr. Aniagwu were the Commissioners of Higher Education, Professor Nyerhovwo Tonukari, and Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele, along with the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon.
Mr. Aniagwu stated, “We want to ensure that before we commission the projects, that they are indeed in a state worthy of commissioning. Not after commissioning by the governor, you now begin to point out any form of technical issues that will now make people not move in and use the projects.”
The inspection covered several key university structures, including dual 250-seater capacity lecture theatres, the Faculty of Agriculture building, the Administrative building, and the Vice-Chancellor’s lodge. Mr. Aniagwu also mentioned that the Commissioner for Housing had directed his staff to address any remaining issues before the scheduled commissioning in three days’ time.
With optimism and reliance on divine intervention, Mr. Aniagwu expressed hope that the projects executed by the state government at Dennis Osadebay University would be successfully inaugurated on Thursday of the current week, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
