ABUJA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has been honoured with the Hotel Industry Excellence and Sustainability Award in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, recognizing its significant contributions to the hospitality and tourism sector, establishing itself as an emerging tourist destination in the country.
Presented by the International Hospitality Tourism and Eco-Sustainability Forum leadership, the award highlights the state’s remarkable progress in tourism under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism, Amb. Huxley Unumadu.
The forum praised Delta State’s efforts in creating a robust legacy and attracting foreign direct investment.
Amb. Unumadu expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged the state’s commitment to further investments in culture and tourism, aiming to enhance Nigeria’s global reputation in these sectors.
The award ceremony, held at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Abuja Continental Hotel, saw Delta State Government triumph in the Hospitality and Tourism Destination category, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry.
The SSA received the award on behalf of the state, affirming Delta’s dedication to advancing the tourism sector and promoting sustainable practices.
