ASABA/Nigeria: In a move signaling his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and education, the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborewori, has directed the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board to expedite the disbursement of the 2023 bursary to qualified students of the State origin by the first week of February 2024.
The directive, a manifestation of Governor Oborewori’s dedication to his M.O.R.E (Making Opportunities Reach Everyone) agenda, comes on the heels of his approval for the release of funds earmarked for the payment of the 2023 bursary to deserving students.
The announcement was made through a press statement by the Executive Secretary of the State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita. The statement highlighted the governor’s strong commitment to youth-friendly policies and emphasized the pivotal role of youth development in the M.O.R.E agenda.
“I wish to bring to the notice of the National Association of Delta State Students that His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori has approved the payment of the 2023 bursary award and has directed the Board to make arrangements to commence disbursement to validly qualified students of Delta State origin by the first week of February 2024,” the statement read.
Governor Oborewori, often regarded as a father figure by the student community, is recognized for his deep affection and commitment to the welfare of students. The statement called upon the National Association of Delta State Students (NADETSSU) to exhibit solidarity with the governor, acknowledging the patience and understanding demonstrated by the student body.
“It is common knowledge that Gov. Oborevwori is not only youth-friendly but also interested in youth development, which is a critical component of his M.O.R.E agenda. He is definitely a father figure whose love for students can only be described in the superlative,” the statement further noted.
As Delta State gears up to disburse the 2023 bursary, Governor Oborewori’s call for student solidarity emphasizes the importance of a collective effort in realizing the shared goals of educational advancement and holistic youth development in the state.
