OGWASHI-UKU/Nigeria: The anticipation for the 2024 Nigeria Polytechnic Games to be hosted by Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi Uku, has heightened as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori assures a grand spectacle for the 23rd edition, named “Ogwashi-Uku 2024”.
Represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, the Governor emphasized the event’s significance in showcasing Delta State as a leader in Nigerian sports.
During the groundbreaking ceremony for the games complex, featuring basketball and volleyball courts within the institution’s premises, Governor Oborevwori stated, “Delta State hosting the 23rd edition will undoubtedly highlight our unparalleled dominance in Nigerian sports history.”
At the same event, President of NIPOGA and Rector of Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic, Bldr Prof. Emmanuel Achuenu, highlighted the forthcoming games as a benchmark for future hosts.
He unveiled the appointment of “Mathematical” Segun Odegbami as NIPOGA 2024 Icon/ambassador, recognizing Odegbami’s pivotal role in conceptualizing the inaugural NIPOGA in 1976 and his notable achievements as a polytechnic graduate.
Director of Sports at the institution, Pat-Susan Omoware, pledged an exceptional organization for the Ogwashi-Uku 2024 NIPOGA, promising a notable departure from previous editions in terms of quality and execution.
The groundbreaking ceremony culminated in the investiture of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the Grand Patron of NIPOGA, marking a significant honor and endorsement for the upcoming games.
