ASABA/Nigeria: Dr. Sunny Ofehe, the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on External Relations and Diaspora Affairs, has reaffirmed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s unwavering dedication to tapping into foreign direct investment for the state’s development.

The Executive Assistant stated this in a recent appearance on AriseTv on Sunday October8, 2023

During the Sunday night interview, Dr. Ofehe unveiled the state government’s resolute commitment to unlocking diverse investment opportunities with the aim of boosting the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and increasing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Delta State.

Dr. Ofehe emphasized the pressing need for Nigeria to rekindle its appeal to investors and outlined strategic approaches while delineating the respective roles of federal and state governments in these initiatives. He showcased his pivotal role as the Executive Assistant on External Relations and Diaspora Affairs, underscoring his substantial contributions to attracting investment to Delta State. He also outlined strategies for encouraging Delta indigenes residing abroad to invest in or connect potential investors with the state.

“Our primary objective is to create an environment that instills confidence in prospective investors regarding our state’s economy,” Dr. Ofehe asserted.

He continued, saying, “We are fully committed to streamlining bureaucratic processes and ensuring ease of doing business in our state. Our goal is to provide investors with a sense of security about their investments and potential returns. However, it’s essential to recognize that these assurances cannot be fully guaranteed without addressing current challenges.”

Dr. Ofehe stressed the importance of equipping government ministries, parastatals, and agencies with individuals possessing the requisite knowledge and capabilities to oversee and maximize the state’s mineral resources for profitability.

Discussing diaspora engagement, Dr. Ofehe announced the establishment of a comprehensive database for all Delta indigenes living abroad. This initiative aims to strengthen their sense of identity and offer insights into business opportunities for investment in their homeland.

Addressing concerns related to safety and profit remittances, he stated, “We must put our house in order and establish a conducive environment for foreign investors. We must assure them of returns and guarantee a swift and effective judicial process should they encounter any business-related challenges.”

Dr. Ofehe, also the Founder of the Hope for Niger Delta Campaign (HNDC) in The Netherlands, highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s political determination to actively court these investors, underscoring the state’s commitment to fostering economic growth through foreign investment.
