ASABA/Nigeria: In an official statement, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the recently newly elected executives of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, led by Comrade Ughere Blessed.

As stated by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor also extended his felicitations to the elected Deputy President, Okoloko Paul; General Secretary, Egheneji Oghenegweke; Publicity Secretary, Aboyi Lawson; Chief Whip, Agbubi Ejovwoke Emmanuel, and the other 17 individuals who secured their positions unopposed.

Governor Oborevwori expressed great confidence in the leadership capabilities of the UPU Youth Wing, under the guidance of Comrade Ughere Blessed. He emphasized the collective experience and exceptional backgrounds of the newly elected members, indicating their potential to significantly contribute to the growth and development of the Urhobo nation.

Furthermore, the Governor pledged his unwavering support to Urhobo youth and all youth groups across the state, urging them to align with his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda and actively participate in advancing the state’s development.

Governor Oborevwori also issued a challenge to the youth, encouraging them to put an end to the harassment of investors, particularly regarding building levies. He underscored that the State Government had already enacted legislation prohibiting such unauthorized levies across the state.

He stated, “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate Comrade Ughere Blessed and other members of the newly elected Youth Wing of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) on the just concluded polls. Your victory at the polls signifies your general acceptance and astute readiness to provide the youths of Urhobo nation worldwide quality leadership. Your emergence at this time is not just momentous, but signifies your early and effective preparation for the enviable position as the number one Urhobo youth worldwide. As you and your executive settle down to provide leadership for the Urhobo youths worldwide, I must charge you to rally round your other colleagues who lost in the election and work as a united and indivisible union.”

The Governor continued, “As a state government, we would continue to partner with youths across the state as we strive to provide excellence in governance by attracting new businesses to our state while also providing landmark infrastructure across Delta State. The UPU Youth Wing, under your astute leadership, must strive to embrace these new businesses and encourage the old ones to blossom and not to encourage acts capable of driving away investors on the guise of collecting development levies. We count on your crucial support in stamping out these illegal collections within our state as already abolished by the State House of Assembly,” Oborevwori said.
