ASABA/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his congratulations to the people of Delta State and all Nigerians on the occasion of this year’s Democracy Day, celebrated on June 12.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori joined fellow citizens in expressing gratitude to the divine for another year of democratic governance in the country, despite the prevailing challenges.
Governor Oborevwori expressed confidence in the continued progress and eventual flourishing of Nigeria’s democratic system. He highlighted the recent improvements in electoral laws as promising signs and urged citizens to utilize these reforms to elect leaders committed to advancing good governance and national prosperity.
Addressing the public, Governor Oborevwori remarked, “On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Delta State, I extend heartfelt congratulations to Deltans and fellow Nigerians on the commemoration of the 2024 Democracy Day, today, June 12.”
He continued, acknowledging the resilience of Nigerians in the face of adversity, “While we have faced challenges as a nation, my administration acknowledges and empathizes with the difficulties our citizens are currently enduring. Nevertheless, amidst adversity, there is always hope.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey over the past 25 years, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the significance of uninterrupted governance in allowing citizens to exercise their rights freely. He underscored the importance of leveraging this democratic milestone to foster continued growth and development.
“Building on the progress made by previous administrations, our government is committed to further enhancing the infrastructure and human capital of our state, as outlined in our MORE Agenda, ensuring continued growth and development for the benefit of all citizens,” Governor Oborevwori affirmed.
