ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, on the occasion of his 99th birth anniversary, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba,
The Governor praised Obi Chike Edozien as a distinguished medical scholar and Nigeria’s first Professor of Physiology. Since ascending to the throne in 1991 as the 13th Asagba of Asaba, Obi Edozien has been a beacon of purposeful leadership, fostering growth and development in Asaba, the State capital. The city has experienced remarkable progress in terms of population growth and infrastructure development under his reign.
Governor Oborevwori commended the respected monarch for his efforts in making Asaba a comfortable and hospitable destination for Nigerians visiting the Delta State capital for various purposes. The Governor acknowledged the significance of reaching the age of 99 and emphasized that Obi Professor Chike Edozien deserves celebration for such an enviable milestone.
Extending his felicitations to the centenarian monarch, the Governor joined the royal family and the entire people of Asaba, both at home and abroad, in celebrating this landmark achievement in his journey of life. He described the Asagba as an “iconic scholar per excellence, bridge-builder, and the oldest living Professor in any discipline.”
Governor Oborevwori concluded his message with prayers for the Asagba’s continued blessings of wisdom, good health, and strength to lead his kingdom. He expressed optimism for the upcoming centenary celebration and hoped that the Almighty God would grant Obi Professor Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, many more years of service to mankind.
