Delta State Governor Launches Construction of Eight Duplexes in Commissioners Quarters, Asaba

ASABA/Nigeria: In a significant move aimed at bolstering infrastructure and fostering cohesion within the government administration, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, inaugurated the commencement of construction for eight additional duplexes in the Commissioners Quarters situated in Asaba, the state capital, on Tuesday.

Addressing attendees at the ceremonial event, Governor Oborevwori underscored the housing project’s pivotal role in advancing his administration’s commitment to enhancing physical infrastructure for improved coordination and service delivery to the people of Delta State.

Emphasizing the significance of the project, Governor Oborevwori remarked, “Today marks yet another milestone in the life of this administration to offer meaningful development to our people. As you know, meaningful development is the first pillar of our MORE agenda.”

He elaborated on the necessity of expanding the Commissioners Quarters estate to accommodate the burgeoning number of commissioners required due to the addition of specialized ministries over the years. Governor Oborevwori highlighted the challenges faced by some commissioners residing outside the quarters, emphasizing their need for the sense of community and security that the estate provides.

Governor Oborevwori articulated the administration’s proactive approach to addressing this demand by announcing the addition of eight duplexes to the existing structures, with a vision to ensure every commissioner resides within the designated official quarters.

“As a responsive and responsible administration, we decided to meet this need by adding eight duplexes to the existing structures on the ground,” Governor Oborevwori affirmed, noting that upon completion, the estate’s total building count would rise to 30.

Providing insights into the architectural layout, Hon. Godknows Angele, the Commissioner for Housing, delineated the features of each duplex, encompassing essential amenities across two floors, including lounges, bedrooms, kitchens, and auxiliary quarters. Hon. Angele also stressed the imperative for the project contractor to uphold stringent quality standards and adhere to the stipulated timeline for completion to optimize the project’s overall benefit

With a completion period of six months designated for the contractor, the initiative stands as a testament to Delta State’s commitment to infrastructural development and administrative efficiency, poised to enhance the living standards and working environment for government officials while aligning with broader developmental objectives.

The launch of this ambitious housing project signals a proactive stride toward fostering an enabling environment conducive to effective governance and underscores Governor Oborevwori’s steadfast dedication to realizing the aspirations of the people of Delta State.
