Delta State Governor Launches Probe into Greenhouse Project; Key Officials Suspended Pending Investigation

ASABA/Nigeria: In response to the findings of the review on the implementation of the Greenhouse project by the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon Elder Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, has taken decisive action by forming a seven-member committee led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu.

A statement issued by Dr. Kingsley Emu, the committee’s chair, revealed that the Governor approved the immediate suspension of Hon. Omoun Perekebena Perez, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources.

Additionally, key officials, including Messrs Bennett Ezon-Abode Agamah, Permanent Secretary; Engr. Oki Preowei Yintareke, Assistant Director, Agricultural Engineering; and Mr. Gabriel Idiatacheko, Chief Accountant, have been directed to proceed on compulsory leave until further notice, following the interim report of the investigative committee.

Dr. Kingsley Emu emphasized the necessity of the suspensions, stating that they are not indicative of guilt but a precautionary measure to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigative processes. The Governor’s decision aims to ensure an unbiased and uninfluenced inquiry into the claims and perceived infractions related to the management of the Greenhouse project by the Ministry.

The State Government underscored its commitment to upholding the sanctity of the investigative processes and emphasized that these actions were taken in accordance with the extant rules of the Civil Service.

The outcome of the investigation will shed light on any potential wrongdoing and contribute to transparency and accountability in the administration of the Greenhouse project in Delta State.
