ASABA/Nigeria: In a somber expression of grief, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragic boat mishap involving Nollywood actors. Describing the loss as “excruciating and unfortunate,” the Governor conveyed the State Government’s deep sorrow over the untimely passing of Junior Pope and others in the incident.
Governor Oborevwori, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, urged Nollywood enthusiasts and stakeholders to come to terms with the tragic event. He emphasized the importance of embracing the passing of the actors as an unfortunate occurrence and prayed for strength for the bereaved families, friends, and associates to endure their profound loss.
“On behalf of my family, the government, and people of Delta State, I commiserate with the Nollywood industry and families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate boat mishap,” Governor Oborevwori expressed.
He also pointed out the potential for preventive measures, stating, “Perhaps, the deaths could have been avoided if the necessary safety measures were adhered to.”
In a final prayer, the Governor invoked divine mercy for the departed souls, saying, “May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace.”
