Delta State Governor Mourns the Passing of Chief Kenneth Gbagi

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family of former Minister of Education (State), Chief Kenneth Gbagi, following his demise on May 4.

Gbagi, a senior lawyer, businessman, and former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, passed away at the age of 62 after a brief illness.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori expressed deep sorrow over Gbagi’s passing, describing it as tragic, unfortunate, and heart-wrenching.

He particularly commiserated with the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area and Oginibo community, highlighting Gbagi’s significant contributions as a politician and former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain.

Gbagi, a Criminologist, entrepreneur, and lawyer, served as Chairman of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria before assuming the position of Minister of Education (State) during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Governor Oborevwori remarked, “On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I mourn the passing of a renowned politician and astute businessman, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, who passed on in Lagos on Saturday.”

“The news of his death came to me as a terrible shock, and my heartfelt condolences go to his family, the people of Oginibo, and the members of the Social Democratic Party, SDP,” he added.

He concluded by offering prayers for the departed soul, expressing hope that God would grant fortitude to Gbagi’s family and friends in coping with the loss.
