ASABA/Nigeria: In the wake of a heart-wrenching incident at the General Hospital, Lagos Island, the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his profound condolences to the Diaso family and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) over the untimely passing of Dr. Vwaire Diaso.
The young and promising medical doctor, who hailed from Ewu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, tragically lost her life when the elevator she was using malfunctioned and plummeted from the 9th floor to the ground floor.
Governor Oborevwori, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, lamented that the tragic incident could have been avoided had the hospital facilities been adequately managed by those in charge. He called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, urging both the Lagos State Government and the Nigeria Police to take action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I commiserate with the family of Kennedy Diaso of Ewu Kingdom, the Urhobo nation, friends, and colleagues of the deceased on the tragic death of their promising daughter, Vwaire,” Governor Oborevwori expressed.
“This incident is tragic, painful, grievous, and a great loss not just to the family but to the entire nation and humanity. While we mourn her unfortunate and avoidable death, the hospital management failed in their duty to maintain facilities at the hospital which caused her untimely demise.”
