Delta State Governor Promises Free and Fair Local Government Elections … Inaugurates 5.3km Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass …. As Adeleke lauds accomplishments

IBUSA/Nigeria: In a significant milestone for Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has inaugurated the 5.3km Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass, assuring citizens of a transparent and credible local government election slated for July 13. The newly completed bypass aims to ease traffic congestion and foster economic growth in the state.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized his administration’s dedication to democratic principles and urged all political candidates to engage in fair campaigning.

“While we continue to enjoy the freedom, privilege, and other dividends that democracy offers, I implore you to uphold its tenets as we approach the Local Government elections,” he stated.

Addressing candidates from all parties, he declared, “The election is going to be free, fair, and credible. If you think you will just have it because it’s a Local Government election, you are making a very big mistake. Do your campaigns very well; the elections will be properly monitored because I believe in democracy and the rule of law. Go and talk to the people, show your capacity; tell them that you are capable for this job.”

During the inauguration, Governor Oborevwori also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who initiated the road project. He praised the contractor for addressing all concerns raised during inspections, stating, “Delta is growing rapidly, and it is an opportunity for people to come and acquire more lands here.”

The governor responded positively to the requests made by traditional rulers from the communities of Okpanam and Ibusa, assuring them that their needs would be considered.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who graced the event, lauded Governor Oborevwori’s accomplishments in his first year in office. “I am here because of Governor Oborevwori’s impressive performance and urge Deltans to support him in delivering more projects in line with his MORE Agenda,” said Adeleke.

Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, highlighted the technical specifics of the project, which includes a 5.3km road length with 10.6km drains and a 10.3m pavement width.

Traditional rulers, the Obuzor of Ibusa, Obi Professor Louis Nwoboshi, and the Ugoani of Okpanam Kingdom, Obi Michael Mbanefo, expressed their gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for fulfilling a long-awaited dream. They also called for further infrastructural developments to enhance connectivity and safety in the area.

The inauguration of the Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass marks a significant step towards improved infrastructure and democratic governance in Delta State.
