ASABA/Nigeria: In a resolute New Year Message, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reassured the people of the state of his administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering sustainable development and progress through his MORE Agenda.
Delivered through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor emphasized the significance of unity, focus, and peace as the state embarked on the journey into 2024.
He underscored his administration’s dedication to delivering quality services to the people while expressing confidence that divine providence would oversee Delta’s and Nigeria’s advancements in the forthcoming year.
Acknowledging the challenges faced in the preceding year, Governor Oborevwori extended gratitude for the achievements recorded during the past seven months of his administration. He specifically recognized the support and cooperation received from Deltans as a significant source of encouragement and strength for the government.
Expressing appreciation for the populace’s resilience amidst economic hardships, especially following the removal of petrol subsidies, the Governor urged citizens to remain prayerful, peaceful, and law-abiding. He reiterated his optimism for greater accomplishments in the new year, buoyed by the collaboration of the people.
“With profound gratitude to God Almighty, I extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you in the year 2024. I join you in thanking God for His protection and direction during the preceding year, 2023,” the Governor stated.
He acknowledged the collective determination to coexist peacefully despite economic adversities, highlighting the modest progress made in governance. Governor Oborevwori expressed confidence that, with continued cooperation, greater strides would be made across all facets of development in the upcoming year.
Demonstrating readiness to initiate actions promptly, the Governor announced the early signing of the 2024 Budget into law, positioning the state to address governance challenges effectively.
Highlighting past achievements, he cited the award of significant contracts amounting to N78 billion for infrastructure projects in the Warri and Effurun areas to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc within six months of his administration.
The Governor assured the populace that his administration remained dedicated to fulfilling promises, guaranteeing additional development initiatives in the forthcoming months and years.
“We have been doing our best to ensure that the developmental needs of the state are attended to by applying the level of prudence and fiscal discipline that the present challenges demand,” Governor Oborevwori emphasized.
Focusing on the importance of peace for progress, he urged citizens to prioritize harmonious relationships with their neighbors to facilitate resource allocation for community advancements.
Governor Oborevwori concluded with an optimistic outlook, envisioning 2024 as a year marked by divine blessings for Deltans and Nigerians. He pledged continued efforts toward enhancing security and prioritizing social services and infrastructure.
“Be assured that we will continue, as always, to ensure that Delta remains secured just as social services, including the provision of infrastructure, will be given adequate attention in the new year,” the Governor affirmed.
He extended New Year wishes on behalf of his family, the government, and the people of Delta State, wishing all a prosperous year ahead.
