Delta State Governor Urges Oil Companies to Support State Security Trust Fund

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged oil companies operating in the state to join hands with the government in funding the state security trust fund. The call came during a courtesy visit to Government House, Asaba, where Governor Oborevwori received the new Police Commissioner in the State, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, and his management team.

In his address, Governor Oborevwori commended the former CP, Wale Abbas, for his exemplary service, noting the significant reduction in crime rates during his tenure. He expressed optimism in the capability of the incoming Commissioner to uphold the same standards, ensuring the safety and security of Delta State residents.

Governor Oborevwori emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, law enforcement agencies, and stakeholders to maintain peace and security in the state. He highlighted the recent stability in the region, particularly during the festive season, attributing it to concerted efforts in security management.

Addressing the need for continued support for law enforcement, Governor Oborevwori stressed the importance of the Delta State Security Trust Fund. He urged oil companies to contribute to the fund, citing its pivotal role in ensuring adequate resources for the police and other security agencies.

CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, in his remarks, pledged unwavering dedication to his duty, promising to work tirelessly to uphold peace and security in Delta State. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and assured the Governor and the people of Delta State of his commitment to their safety.
