Delta State Governor Urges Religious Leaders to Pray for Political Leaders Amidst Trying Times

ASABA/Nigeria: In a heartfelt plea, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called upon religious leaders to offer their unwavering prayers and support for political leaders facing challenges across the nation. Governor Oborevwori made this appeal on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Chairman and Executive members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State Chapter, led by Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi, at the Government House in Asaba.

Expressing his appreciation for the visit, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the vital role that religious leaders play during these turbulent times, stating, “I am always happy whenever fathers of faith visit me. Their prayers and support are what every political leader needs at this point in time.”

Oborevwori, who views himself as a servant leader chosen to lead the state during these challenging times, stressed the importance of the Church standing in solidarity with the government by offering prayers consistently to ensure the will of God prevails.

As part of his commitment to the people, Governor Oborevwori reiterated his administration’s dedication to fulfilling his M.O.R.E. Agenda, aimed at delivering on the social contract he has with the people of Delta State.

He noted, “It is my pleasure and a thing of joy to be in your midst today. I remember asking the church to pray for me during my election for the will of God to be done. The church stood by me, and God gave us victory. The church has always been a stabilizing factor in our country Nigeria. And I will, therefore, appeal to our fathers in faith to continue to intercede not just for me, but for all the political leaders in Nigeria at this time.”

Governor Oborevwori also commended the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State Chapter, for consistently championing truth and justice. He urged the organization to continue its unwavering commitment in this regard.

He said, “I note with delight that the PFN in Delta State has been a consistent voice of reason and patriotism. You have always stood firm on the side of truth and justice, and I commend you for that.”

Earlier in the meeting, President of the PFN, Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi, expressed their purpose for visiting the Government House in Asaba. He conveyed their joy and gratitude for Governor Oborevwori’s victory, not only at the polls but also in the courts.

Bishop Enakirerhi underlined the significance of Governor Oborevwori’s position within the PFN, being the first member of the organization to hold the office of governor in the state. He also noted the Governor’s role as an elder in the church.

“We are here today to appreciate God Almighty for the victory he gave to you during the last election. You already know that you and I are from the same Delta Central, and you know the kind of battles we fought. We are here also as your own body because you belong to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. And we stand solidly behind you. We are also here to thank God for the victories at the court. You are the first Pentecostal Fellowship member and an elder of the church to be a governor of this state.”

Bishop Enakirerhi also lauded the Governor’s initiatives, including the construction of flyovers, cloverleaf, and road expansion projects in Warri and Effurun in collaboration with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. He regarded these initiatives as a testament to Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to delivering on his promise of “doing more” for the people, expressing their collective celebration of his accomplishments.
