A Nine member Care-Taker committee has been constituted by Delta state government to run the affairs of Ase- Omuku Community Development Committee (CDC) in Ndokwa East Government Area. The Constitution and subsequent Inauguration of the Care-Taker Committee was sequel t o the total peace, unity and orderliness restored among the people by the state Government and Law enforcement agents. Inaugurating the members of the Committee at the Community Public Square a Personal Aid to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Hon. (prophet) Austin Ogie in company of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on community matters Mr. John Okpako congratulated them and reminded them of their tasks ahead.
He charged them to sustain the peace security, unity and orderliness established in the community by the state Government, pointing out that with the return of peace and orderliness to the town, the people would soon begging to enjoy the Government impact through rapid physical and human development. While reminding the oil companies operation within the area of their Social and Civic responsibilities, including their Host communities development policies and programmers Hon. Ogie cautioned the community youths against all forms of violence and urged them to co-operate with the members of the care – taker committee as well as other leaders of the communities.
In an acceptance speech following their official Inauguration, the chairman of the Care-Taker Committee Prince Amaechi Onyeonwu, expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the members of the community to the state government, describing the event as historical and indicating the Governor Uduaghan’s interest and commitment to his peace and security agenda, as well as the Community Development Programmes, “I am promising the government of Delta State and all the Security agents here that the peace move they have initiated in this community today, we shall always appreciate and as a peace loving community, we are assuring all the Oil Companies, Government agencies and establishments etc, operating in Ase-Omuku land a peaceful atmosphere”
The Care-Taker Chairman used the occasion to appeal to the community members to support the committee in the struggle to move forward. To the youths he requested them to embrace the peace and security that currently prevail remarking that violence, temorism, cultism and other acts capable of breaching the peace security in the community should be avoided as no meaningful development can be achieved in the face of Rancor and acrimony “we must find something to live for, despite the grief in our lives. It is not in Ase – Omuku phenomenum to indulge in crisis if not for selfish interest, greed arrogance and power intoxication” he recalled.
Among dignitries who witnessed the ceremony included the personal Assistant to the Governor on Ecological matters Mr. Albert Hans, and the personal Assistant to the personal Aid to the Governor, Mr. Samson Oritsebenugho. The royal fathers of the occasion were the Obi of Ejeme Uno in Anioche – South Local Government Area HRM Godwin Nzemeke (JP) and the Igwe of Ase kingdom HRH Ifeanyichukwu Ogeh ( The 1st) A notable Delta community leader high Chief, Dr Ide Abadi (JP) also witnessed the ceremony. The high point of the ceremony was the official Inauguration.
