Delta State HIV/AIDS Anti-Discrimination and Protection Bill, 2020 Passes First Reading

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State HIV/AIDS Anti-discrimination and Protection Bill, 2020 has passed its first reading at the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly, during plenary on Tuesday, 18 February 2020, presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor.

The Bill which was sponsored by Hon Augustine Uroye of Warri South 1, State Constituency and other members of the House is to seek access for Justice, Support and Care for all persons living with HIV/AIDS in Delta state and for other related purposes.

The bill is billed for second reading on 10 March, 2020, and when passed into law will prohibit all forms of discrimination against persons living with the disease in the society, including right to medical facilities and jobs.
