ASABA/Nigeria: In a session marked by diligence and scrutiny, the Delta State House of Assembly has confirmed three crucial appointments forwarded by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. The confirmed nominees are set to assume key roles in the state’s governance structure.
Those screened and confirmed were Sir Edwin Ogidi-Gbegbaje appointed as the Chairman of the Delta State Bureau for Pensions, while Olorogun Jude Oghenewaire Emurotu will serve as a Member of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission. Additionally, Mr. Ifeanyi Egwuyenga has been appointed as the Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer for the Delta State Job and Wealth Creation Bureau.
The nominees, introduced by members representing their constituencies, underwent a rigorous screening process during the plenary session presided over by Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor. Lawmakers posed pertinent questions to the nominees, seeking assurances of their commitment to serving the state’s interests effectively.
Following the successful screening, the Speaker, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor confirmed the appointments, emphasizing their alignment with the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution. The confirmation was further ratified through unanimous voice votes in favor of each appointee.
Congratulating the appointees, Speaker Guwor urged them to uphold the trust placed in them by Governor Oborevwori and to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s “MORE” mantra, emphasizing the need to add value to the state.
In another development, a bill for a Law to amend the Delta State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency Law 2015 received its first reading during the plenary session.
The motion for the first reading was moved by Majority Leader Hon Emeka Nwaobi and seconded by Hon Charles Emetulu, the member representing Ndokwa West Constituency.
