Delta State House of Assembly Solicits Public Input for Delta State Investment Programme, SIP Bill

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly has invited contributions and memoranda from the public regarding the “Delta State Investment Programme, SIP Bill.” This call to action was officially communicated through a statement released by Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, Chairman of the House Committee On Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneurship, and Humanitarian Support Services.

The statement, disseminated to the press in Asaba, underlines the committee’s eagerness to receive input from various stakeholders, including government bodies and the general populace.

Hon. Anyafulu emphasized the committee’s interest in written submissions from pertinent entities such as the Ministry of Women Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, Girl Child Development, Ministry of Trade and Investment, Non-Governmental Organizations, and the wider public.

All contributions, as specified, are requested to be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Delta State Social Investment Programme Bill” and directed to the committee chairman’s office no later than Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Highlighting the focal areas of interest for the anticipated contributions, Hon. Anyafulu reiterated the significance of concentrating efforts on crucial aspects. These include the coordination and fair distribution of resources aimed at alleviating poverty within the state. Additionally, an emphasis was placed on enhancing the socio-economic conditions of citizens, with particular attention to rural communities, the physically challenged, orphans, and the underprivileged in society.

This move follows the bill’s successful progression through the second reading on the floor of the State Assembly. Subsequently, it was referred to the House joint Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneurship, Humanitarian Support Services, Trade and Investment, and the Special Committee on Bills for further legislative deliberations.
