ASABA/Nigeria: Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, has lauded the state’s recognition as the safest in Nigeria for oil and gas investment. This achievement, marked by a prestigious award presented on Friday night, signifies a significant milestone in the government’s relentless commitment to sustainable peace, security, and good governance in the state.
Reacting to the award, Speaker Guwor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, expressed that the ruling PDP-led administration in Delta State has consistently prioritized creating a conducive business environment for multinational corporations operating within the state.
He emphasized that the recognition was not surprising, as it aligns with the ground reality in Delta State.
Acknowledging the state’s substantial contributions to the oil and gas industry in Nigeria, Guwor expressed satisfaction that Delta State topped the list in an opinion poll conducted within the industry, affirming its status as the safest for oil and gas investment in the country.
The announcement of this result occurred during the Nigeria Oil and Gas Forum and Award Night, a significant event sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources in Abuja. Speaker Guwor assured that the state government’s unwavering efforts to secure all parts of Delta State would persist, with the aim of attracting both local and foreign investors.
Commending the event organizers for the awards, Guwor extended congratulations to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for achieving another milestone through his administration’s people-oriented approach.
The Speaker also paid tribute to the oil and gas host communities in the state, praising them for fostering an enabling environment that contributed to the sector’s growth. He emphasized that sustained peace and harmony among stakeholders were pivotal for further advancements.
“I am excited to witness Delta State emerging as the first position from the opinion poll conducted within the industry, establishing itself as the safest in oil and gas investment in Nigeria. This award is indeed a reflection of the reality on the ground,” stated Speaker Guwor.
He further asserted, “Delta State Assembly under my watch will continue to synergize with the Executive, ensuring peace, security, good governance, and sustainable development in the state. I am optimistic that Delta will continue to top the charts for positive news. This award was indeed well-deserved.”
