ASABA/Nigeria: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has extended warm wishes to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, on his birth anniversary.
In a congratulatory message, Guwor acknowledged Okowa’s significant contributions and lasting legacies during his tenure.
Guwor emphasized the harmonious relationship between the Executive, led by Dr. Okowa, and the State Legislature, which played a pivotal role in ensuring the stability and effectiveness of the State Assembly. This collaboration positioned the Assembly to carry out its constitutional duty of enacting laws for the peace, order, and good governance of the state.
As the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State during his eight years as Governor, Okowa provided purposeful leadership and direction, fortifying the party against opposition infiltration. Guwor commended Okowa for championing equity and fairness in Delta politics, which facilitated power rotation and zoning of key political offices across the Senatorial districts, promoting a sense of inclusivity and belonging.
“On behalf of my family, the Honourable members, management, and staff of the Delta State House of Assembly, I wholeheartedly felicitate our immediate past Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, on the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary,” expressed Guwor.
He further extended his prayerful wishes for Okowa’s continued strength and good health, enabling him to contribute further to the development and service of Delta State and the nation as a whole. Guwor acknowledged Okowa’s outstanding efforts in promoting peace, good governance, and stability within the state’s political landscape.
“Governor Okowa’s commitment to peace and good governance has been truly remarkable. He who finds peace shall inherit peace. Therefore, I pray that peace, good health, and God’s abundant grace will continue to be with him and his household,” added Guwor.
While celebrating Okowa’s birthday, Speaker Guwor seized the opportunity to call for unwavering support for the administration of his successor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, in advancing the development agenda of Delta State through his M.O.R.E. initiative.
