Delta State NUJ Honours Prophet Fufeyin, Hails His Gesture to Prison Inmates

WARRI/Nigeria: The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State/Warri Correspondent Chapel has commended Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, General Overseer, Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry and founder, Mercy TV for his philanthropy and liberal understanding of the concept of corporate social responsibility, especially his commitment to the host community. In appreciation, they gave him a framed portrait of the Prophet and a copy of the Holy Bible.

The presentation was made early in the week by a team of the NUJ executive led by Mr Akpokona Omafuaire, chairman, Warri Correspondent chapel, at the Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, Warri.

In his speech, Mr Omafuaire, said: “I want to thank you most especially for your recent visit to the Warri prison, where you paid for the freedom of persons who have been languishing in jail for their inability to pay fines to effect their release. We commend you for doing that. We also want to thank you because since inception of this ministry from Ijakpa Road to here (Effurrun – Sapele road), we aware of how you have arrested the disturbing ate of youth restiveness in Ovwie in particular and Effurun in general.

“We thank God for the rapid growth of your ministry, which started like a mustard seed and have blossomed to become a mighty tree. This tree is now covering a lot of persons, even as it continues to shelter more people under its shade. Please accept this gift as a token of our appreciation for your charitable work and social commitment to stakeholders in the wider community. We want to thank you for what God has done through you in this area. It’s not easy to start a ministry watch it grow like this, so we thank God for using you to do so many things.”

According to Omafuaire, since the prophet’s arrival to Warri, there has been relative peace, adding: “Again, your presence here has led to reduction in crime, you have also brought development, and we want to be part of the development. You have created jobs for many. Many youths have been engaged in one form or the other.

“Thank you for helping to reduce immorality in the society by supporting members who desire to marry, but could not afford the cost. We know it’s not an easy task to serve, it’s a difficult one but God will empower you more. If not that you are led by God, you won’t be able to go this far. That’s why we, NUJ Warri, host journalists to this ministry, has come to introduce ourselves and to express our support to the ministry. In addition to the token gift of appreciation and love for what you have done, we want to use this opportunity to solicit for your help in specific areas of need which we cannot meet at this point in time.

Prophet Fufeyin, in his acceptance speech, said: “I whole heartedly appreciate the gift to me and your show of support for the ministry. I want to tell you that it’s God that will bless you all. God is doing many great things in this ministry. I am here praying for our nation, Nigeria, Delta State and the world at large. It’s my prayer that God Almighty will reward and bless you abundantly. May God’s protection, love, wisdom, knowledge and strength be our potion in Jesus name. Amen. On behalf of the ministry, I want to say your request will be looked into as soon as possible.”

Mr Michael Ikeogwu, NUJ Chairman, Delta State Council, in his closing remark appreciated the tireless General of the Lord’s Army, for his warm reception. “You came here very simple without security guards. When you walked in most of us didn’t know that you were the prophet of God. It’s our prayer that God bless you and we urge you to remain focused and resolute in helping mankind. Don’t be distracted,” he urged.
