ASABA/Nigeria: In an official announcement, all public and private primary and secondary schools in Delta State are gearing up to commence the first term academic activities on Monday, September 11, 2023.
The statement, issued by Mr. Augustine Oghoro, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, on behalf of the two Commissioners overseeing the Ministry, has outlined crucial directives and expectations for the upcoming academic year.
Teachers have been strongly urged to kickstart their teaching responsibilities immediately after classrooms have been thoroughly cleaned by students. Parents and guardians are advised to prepare their children and wards for the resumption of the 2023/2024 academic year. The state government has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to ensuring the seamless execution of the academic calendar.
Mr. Oghoro emphasized that a resumption test is scheduled for learners on Thursday, September 14, underscoring the urgency for both teachers and students to resume on September 11, 2023, to facilitate the administration of this important test.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that the two Commissioners and the Permanent Secretary will personally lead the Ministry’s staff in monitoring the level of compliance among teachers and learners. Additionally, all Chief Inspectors of Education (CIEs) across the state’s 25 Local Government Areas have been directed to oversee compliance within their respective jurisdictions.
The Ministry has made it explicitly clear that any teacher found failing to adhere to the resumption directives and commence classes will face disciplinary measures. With the academic year set to begin, Delta State is determined to ensure a smooth and productive return to learning for its students.
