ASABA/Nigeria: Onoriode Omojaja, Director of Administration at the Delta State Sports Commission, has lauded the positive impact of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration on sports development in Delta state, South-South Nigeria.
The Director of Administration stated this in an interview on Voice of Delta Radio 97.9 FM,
Omojaja highlighted significant advancements within the state sports commission under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership, emphasizing the strides made towards enhancing sports infrastructure and fostering talent development. Notably, plans to elevate the Warri Stadium into a world-class facility underscore the administration’s commitment to sports excellence.
Citing a rich history of producing sports stars, Omojaja attributed Delta’s success to consistent investment in sporting programs, equipment upgrades, and ample training facilities. He urged youths to embrace sports, noting its role in producing role models and offering substantial rewards.
Echoing Omojaja’s sentiments, Mrs. Okonma Franca, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Delta State Sports Commission, emphasized the commission’s dedication to providing training opportunities for aspiring athletes. She underscored the importance of utilizing existing sporting facilities like the Stephen Keshi Stadium and the Warri Modern Stadium to groom future champions.
Despite strides, challenges persist, as Omojaja highlighted the need for expanded athlete accommodations, enhanced transportation infrastructure, and improved remuneration. However, he expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for steadfast support.
With an unwavering commitment to maintaining Delta’s status as a sporting powerhouse, Omojaja pledged to continue fostering an environment conducive to athletic excellence.
The insights were shared during a special edition of Orientation Panorama, a weekly program by the Delta State Orientation Bureau aimed at promoting government initiatives and achievements. Hosted by Blessing Usiagbada and spearheaded by Comrade Mike Arinze, the programme serves as a platform to showcase the state’s governance strides.
