Delta State to Transform Ibusa and Osubi Dumpsites into Waste-to-Energy Facilities

ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State government is advancing its commitment to sustainable waste management by initiating discussions with Mac Press West Africa Limited to rehabilitate and redevelop the Ibusa and Osubi dumpsites into state-of-the-art waste-to-energy sanitary landfill facilities.

Hon. Mathew Mofe Edema, Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, stated that that the collaboration aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s dedication to ensuring a clean and healthy environment for all residents.

“This initiative is a key part of the governor’s vision to maintain a cleaner Delta State and promote a healthier future,” Edema said.

He further stated that the proposed partnership aims to create a sustainable waste management solution by converting waste into electricity. This cutting-edge technological approach is expected to reduce the environmental impact of traditional landfilling methods, create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve the overall quality of life for Delta State residents.

Top government officials, including the Waste Management Board team led by Edema, were present during the discussions, underscoring the importance of this initiative.

As the state government moves forward with this plan, the future of waste management in Delta State looks poised for a significant transformation, paving the way for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly approach.
