ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has announced that the grand finale of the 2025 Delta–Zenith Bank Headmaster’s Cup competition will now take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The competition, which was earlier scheduled to climax in the first week of December 2025, was postponed, prompting the rescheduling of the final fixtures.

In a statement, the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Chief (Mrs.) Rose Ezewu, JP, disclosed that the third-place match and the grand finale would be played on the same day at the Stephen Keshi Stadium. She explained that the third-place match would be played first, immediately followed by the final.

Ezewu said Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, would serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event, adding that the grand finale is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

She urged all primary school head teachers within the Asaba metropolis to mobilise their staff and pupils to attend the event and support the young athletes, describing the competition as a platform for discovering and nurturing grassroots talents.

The commissioner commended the Oborevwori-led administration and Zenith Bank Plc for sustaining the Headmaster’s Cup initiative, noting that the programme has continued to strengthen Delta State’s reputation as a hub for sports development in Nigeria, particularly at the grassroots level.

According to her, the competition remains a vital tool for promoting school sports, teamwork and early talent development among primary school pupils across the state.
