DELTANS BEWARE: State Government Issues Stern Warning Against Scammers Posing as Government Officials

ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Government issued a stern warning on Monday, cautioning Deltans and the general public to be vigilant and guard against the deceptive tactics of scammers. These fraudsters have been preying on unsuspecting individuals, promising them appointments in exchange for unjust financial favors.

Sir Festus Ahon, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, reiterated this warning for the third time, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation. He revealed that criminal elements have been impersonating key government figures, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Johnson Erijo, and himself, with the sole intention of defrauding innocent members of the public.

In a statement issued in Asaba, the Governor’s spokesperson cautioned the public to exercise caution regarding specific phone numbers: “08023138247, 09025320424, 09026109796, 08023138247,” and any other numbers that the scammers might employ while masquerading as the Delta State SSG, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, or other high-ranking government officials.

Ahon clarified that these phone numbers do not belong to any of the mentioned government appointees but are being exploited by the scammers for financial gain at the expense of unsuspecting victims.

Furthermore, Ahon appealed to law enforcement agencies to take immediate action to address this issue and prevent further individuals from falling victim to these fraudulent schemes. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the hard-earned money of the public from these con artists.

The State Government also emphasized the need for the public to exercise caution and not allow themselves to be deceived by individuals falsely claiming to represent the government. It was reiterated that the government does not demand money in exchange for appointments, and any such claims should be treated with skepticism.
