ASABA/Nigerian: As Nigerians celebrate the 2021 Democracy Day, The Healthy Real Initiative for entrepreneurship, THRive, in a statement said that political actions in the country had continued to stifle the growth of Democracy in Nigeria, due to insincerity of those in government.

In a statement by the group, to mark the Day, the Project Manager, Mrs Martina Enebeli, stated that the governments at all level should realise that the future of the country greatly lies in the youths, the women and the Girl-Child, because this according to the group is the engine of the country.

THRive, an NGO that focuses in the upliftment of the Nigerian youths and the Women/Girl-Child, said for the 23 years of uninterrupted Civil Rule in the country, much still need to be done for the growth of the country, stating that despite the enormous resources that are endowed in Nigeria, many Nigerians, especially the youths, the Girl-Child, and women are still been deprived of the benefits that come with civil rules.

“while we congratulate Nigerians for this day, especially as it had now been moved from the May 29 of every year, to June 12, in remembrance of the annulled 1993 annulled election, we must not that democracy is still far from been achieved, as political policies had greatly stifled growth of democracy in the country.”

It called for true democracy, where there will be equal access to social facilities by all, instead for only the privileged as its presently witnessed in the country, saying the class demarcation indices in the country is so glaring, and while the very few seems to be living very comfortably, majority of Nigerians, especially the youths, women and the Girl-Child is been denied access to the things that will ease their daily lives.

“We must have true democracy, where there will be equal access to social facilities by all. Today, it’s just for the very rich, and other privileged. The class demarcation indices in the country is so glaring, and while the very few seems to be living very comfortably, majority, especially the youths, women and the Girl-Child is been denied access to things that will ease their daily lives.”

The statement further called for rework in the security in the country, as again, many youths in the country had fallen victims to abductors, rapists and killers, because of lack of proper policing in the country. It called for full activation of the vigilante groups in different parts of the country, which is believed is community based and manned by indigenes of such communities.

“The most annoying scenario, is when we don’t free move, because of insecurity issues. Today many cases of missing individuals are reported, some not, kidnappers everywhere, and another growing trend is now raping and murdering of young girls who are been lured with jobs, this is also happening to the young men in this country.”

“for now, while we agree that Civil Rule, is far better than any other form of government, actions of those elected to rule us is daily stifling the growth of democracy.” It stated.
