Deputy Speaker Foresees Delta State’s Upcoming Transformation in 2024 Budget Passage

ASABA/Nigeria: In response to the passage of the Delta State 2024 appropriation bill, Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo has highlighted its transformative potential. The bill, with a size of Seven hundred and twenty-four billion, nine hundred and seventy-nine million naira, received approval from the Delta State Assembly on Thursday.

The Deputy Speaker in an exclusive session with Assembly Correspondents following the bill’s third reading and successful passage, emphasized the budget’s significant allocation for capital projects.

He stressed that these provisions, which earmark twenty-four percent for the economic sector and over forty-six billion naira for education, signify a promising year ahead for the state.

Expressing confidence in the budget’s potential, Akpowowo reiterated the importance of education in Delta State and affirmed the administration’s commitment to strengthening the economy in alignment with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.

Furthermore, Akpowowo assured the public of increased oversight measures to ensure that government bodies fulfill their responsibilities as outlined in the budget. He commended the collaborative effort of the Assembly, specifically praising the Finance and Appropriation Committee for their commendable work.

In Akpowowo’s words, “We have passed the budget, a budget of hope and optimism. I know for sure that Deltans are in for a great deal in 2024.” Emphasizing the substantial provisions for capital projects and economic development, he projected a year of extensive infrastructure development for the state.
