WARRI/Nigeria: The Managing Director/CEO of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor has reassured contractors of ongoing projects in the region of the commission’s commitment to revaluation and completion.
He made the pledge during an inspection tour of three key projects, as part of the ongoing assessment of specific projects within DESOPADEC’s mandate areas, of Warri South and Warri North Local Government Areas,
Among the projects inspected was the Alema Multi-Purpose Hall in Abigborodo community, which is designed to accommodate 150 people. This visit underscores DESOPADEC’s determination to ensure that projects are not only completed but also meet the needs and standards of the communities they serve.
The forty-six (46) stores Ultra Modern Shopping Mall at Ubeji community in Warri South Local Government Area and an Administrative Block structure at the College of Education, Warri also in Warri South Local Government Area.
Chief Ochonogor, while responding to questions from news men said the essence of embarking on the inspection exercise was to first of all, ascertain the state and level of the work that has been done on the projects.
Also to know their importance and thereafter explore the possibility of assisting the contractors to ensure the completion of the projects so as to add value to the lives of members of the communities where the projects were sited.
Responding to the remarks of Chief Ochonogor at the College of Education, Warri, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College of Education, Hon. Mrs. Shola Daibo, commended members of the DESOPADEC Board for coming to inspect the Administrative Block structure.
“It has been in its present state since construction started on the building some twelve years ago , thanks to the prompt efforts of his Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State for sending the DESOPADEC Board to come and inspect the state of the project so that urgent and serious work can begin on the structure to completion so it can be put to good use,” she said.
Earlier, at Abigborodo where the inspection of the Alema Multi-purpose Hall was carried out, the Executive Director Projects, Olorogun Taleb Tebite who spoke on behalf of the MD, Chief Ochonogor noted that the materials used in building the hall were of good standard and in line with the specification.
Adding that since the hall was almost completed, the Commission will ensure the provision of the necessary things to put in place for the actual completion of the hall.
The inspection exercise will continue tomorrow to other ethnic mandate communities.
