Kwale, Delta State: The coalition of Ndokwa youths has been called upon to go to court to press home their demand for the transparent sharing of the monthly N20 million from the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (DESOPADEC).
The call was made by the member representing the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Ossai Nicolas Ossai in a breakfast press meeting with Ndokwa Newspaper Publishers, in Hotel Dela Nice, kwale, Ndokwa West LGA, on Saturday November 5, 2015.
Hon Ossai who was reacting to a question on the said monthly money from DESOPADEC, said that the best the youths should do at this time is to get their evidences together, and proceed to court.
According to him, the issue is now at a stage where the normal legal process have to be employed to resolve the issue.
Speaking further, he said the money was meant for the empowerment of the youths in Ndokwa nation to ensure for the security of the oil pipelines running through the communities, and it is not for a particular individual.
Also reacting on the Issue of light in Ndokwa nation, especially on while, AGIP Energy Company had refuse to implement the steeping down of the Independent Power Plant in Okpai as agreed and also directed by former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, he said that the oil company is only playing to the hands of those that don’t want something good for Ndokwa people, and stated the prepared Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), directed that the plant must have to serve 50km radius of area of Operation, which by that covers the entire Ndokwa Nation and beyond.
“The company cannot say they are working with the Memoranda of Understanding, (MoU), and as such they are fulfilling their mandate to the area. Which is superior, is it the EIA or the MoU? He asked.
“AGIP is not only short changing the Ndokwa nation on the issue of the light, but also when it comes to educational issues, its scholarships is for all Nigeria, and the people of Ndokwa again is neglected.”
Concluding, the Hon. Member of the National Assembly of Nigeria, asked that the people of Ndokwa to stand up for their right, as the IPP is a right as entrenched in the EIA of AGIP operation, and it is part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the company to the people.
