Displaced Okuama Community Receives Hope: Governor Inaugurates IDP Management Committee
ASABA/Nigeria: In a move to address the plight of the displaced residents of Okuama community in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has officially inaugurated an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Management Committee.
Led by veteran journalist Mr. Abraham Ogbodo as Chairman and Chief Austin Emaduku as Secretary, the committee comprises distinguished members including Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo and Hon. Festus Utuama.
During the inauguration at Government House Asaba, Governor Oborevwori emphasized the urgent need for the committee to strategize and execute plans for the resettlement and rehabilitation of the affected citizens.
He condemned the tragic incident that led to the displacement, stressing the government’s commitment to minimizing the suffering of the innocent victims.
“I welcome all of you to the inauguration of a Committee charged with the duty of planning and coordinating the settlement and rehabilitation of our people at Okuama,” stated Governor Oborevwori. “Innocent people have been displaced, their homes and properties destroyed… it is now right for government to set up a committee to plan their resettlement and rehabilitation ahead of their return.”
The committee members, carefully selected based on their track records, have been tasked with executing their duties transparently and selflessly, ensuring the swift and effective delivery of assistance to the displaced population.
The Chairman, Abraham Ogbodo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged the committee’s dedication to alleviating the humanitarian crisis in Okuama.
With a sense of urgency, transparency, and thoroughness, the committee aims to provide succor to the displaced individuals, promising to fulfill the expectations placed upon them by the governor and the people of Delta State.
