AGBOR/Nigeria: The Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Chief Darlington Igheghe has called on students in Basic and Tertiary institutions not to allow any group or individuals to lure them into cultism or unhealthy activities.
Chief Igheghe gave the advice during their visit to Alihame Mixed Secondary School Alihame in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state to sensitize them on the dangers of cultism, thuggery, yahoo, and social vices.
While saying that education is not a scam, he noted that the shortcut to getting to the peak in life is to be educated.
As students, you must pay attention to your academic activities so as to enable you to stand out and become ambassadors of your families and the country.
Speaking further, Chief igheghe commended the management and teachers of the school for their contributions to societal growth as teachers.
Speaking on the topic of the Danger in Cultism, Gangsterism, and Yahooism, Mr. Anthony Unoka of the University of Delta, Agbor, noted that cultism does not attract any meaningful development but only destroys one’s life and career.
Mr. Unoka who described cultism as a group of individuals who involve in secret activities stated that cultism, gangsterism, and yahoo do not yield positive results but only end in regrets.
According to him, many persons have gone to early graves for indulging cult related activities leaving their families in pain.
Also speaking, the Principal of Alihame Mixed Secondary School, Mr. Cletus Ujedibie applauded the committee for carrying out the sensitisation programme.
While saying that the proper upbringing of children is a collective effort, he stated the teachers in the school will continue to do their best to raise responsible students.
In her remarks, the Senior Prefect, Miss Confidence Omini thanked Chief Igheghe and his group for their efforts towards sanitizing the society.
