AGBOR/Nigeria: The Candidate of the All Progress Congress, APC, Hon Doris Uboh in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections has said that she suspects the agents of the Delta State government for the recent attempted break into her country home in Agbor, on what she called her stiff challenge of electoral irregularities that marred the conduct of the just concluded governorship and state house of assembly election in Ika South LGA.
According to the former House of Representative member, in the early hours of Monday, March 11, 2019, at about 2:30am an attempt was made to break but the accompanying noise caught her attention as she later raised alarm which made the attackers to retreat.
Conducting journalist around the house, she said the intruders successfully pulled down some of the metal protectors on one of her windows but could not gain access into the house.
“If I had fallen into a deep sleep, God forbid what we would be talking about this morning”, she said.
The former member of the House of Representative said the attack on her home is not unconnected with the just concluded Governorship and State House of Assembly Election, on what she termed the unprofessional measures deployed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to silent her in her LGA as if the freedom to choose a political party that aligns with her aspirations has ceased to exist in the constitution.
“Being a politician, it is necessary to bring to people’s attention what has just happened and to alert the press that my life is in danger. It was not a burglary, it was definitely an assassination attempt because I had heated altercations with opposition party agents, specifically the PDP in my ward (ward 5, Ika South LGA) as well as with the INEC officials cooperating with the PDP, where thumb printed ballot papers were found in large numbers thumb printed in favour of the PDP.”
“In other units there were reports of over voting, multiple voting and people coming from other LGAs to vote. It was electoral malpractice galore and I think that my going around trying to checkmate them must have angered them and of course, there were a lot of threats to my life on my way back from my ward to Agbor and then overnight this happened”.
“Today’s politics has taken a new dimension. I have never seen this sort of politicking, I have been contesting election since 2007 and this is the worse I have seen and I’m very sure it is the opposition party and I have no doubt in my mind that it is the PDP.”
“I am alerting the general public and the Press formally, I’m not mincing words, if anything should happen to me, hold them responsible. I’m accusing them point blank, “she stated.
