DPO, IPO Under Fire as Robber Suspect Escapes from Custody

Delta Police CommisionerDelta: The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in Ashaka Police Station, in Ndokwa East of Delta State, are under serious pressure to produce a notorious robbery kingpin who had escaped from their custody.

According to information reaching Ndokwa Reporters, the robbery suspect, Ellokel Daga from Olor-Ossisa, who had been on the wanted list of the security operatives in the area, was arrested by one of the vigilante groups operating in the area and handed over to the police at Ashaka, but he was said to had escaped when he was allowed to use the convenience outside the police cell.

According to our investigation, the suspect had been on the wanted list for various crimes, including the killing of some cattle which has caused tension between the Ossisa Community and Fulani herdsmen.

Further investigation revealed that apart from the killings and selling off the animals, the suspect had also been involved in robbery attacks in the area, and stealing household items.

Our source further revealed that because of what the police authority in the state had termed negligence, the DPO and the IPO, had been giving the matching order to produce the escaped Ellokel, who was arrested with a new Lifang motor bike, and several rounds of ammunition in his possession.

When the DPO at the Ashaka police station was called to verify the story and the level of investigation to re-arrest the suspect, he said the investigation to apprehend him is on, and assured the public that he will be rearrested.

Meanwhile, the father of the suspect, Mr John Daga, had denied knowledge of the whereabouts of his son, and tasked the police to produce him, as he had escaped from their custody.
