Umutu: The Delta Political Vanguard, (DPV), Ndokwa Chapter, has endorsed the continuity of Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019, as the governor of the state, in a meeting held to review the performance of the administration as it matches towards two years in office.
The meeting which was held in the constituency office of Hon Ochor Chris Ochor, leader of the group in Umutu, Ukwuani LGA, Delta State recently, said that they have confidence in his administration to lead the state to achievable development level, based on three verifiable criteria’s.
They said despite the slim resources coming to the state, resulting from the global fall in international prices of oil, the main stay of the state, the governor had been able to manage the state financially, with discipline and godly wisdom, as he had imputed proper control in the management of the state financial resources, by avoiding extravagant spending which might had led to wastages, especially with the recession.
They specifically took note of the fact that despite the lean resources of the state, the government under Okowa had shown sense of responsibility, as it had distributed physical development to all the three senatorial districts, with evidences of road constructions, educational development, healthcare, skill acquisition trainings and the signing of Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), for the energy sector, security of the state and applauded the government for her efforts in bringing peace to the Niger Delta Creeks, and the entire state as the issue of security had been a priority policy and attributed the peace in the state presently as a result of the doggedness of the government in bringing peace to the state.
According to the group, most of the policies of the Okowa government are policies for the future as he tries to position the state for permanent development.
The meeting which was chaired by Mr Ken Nwaomucha took sweeping decisions that will position the group and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), for the next election, also examined the policies of the government as it affects the people of Ndokwa.
They applauded the government for the attention giving to Ndokwa, especially in the area of appointments, as Ndokwa had benefited from some of the best positions in the government, as noted by the Chairman and thanked the governor for appointing members of the DPV into various positions, especially the recent minor cabinet reshuflement which moved Hon Chika Ossai to Ministry of Lands and Survey from the Directorate of Special Duties.
In terms of physical development, the group noted the road works, especially the Ezhionum/Abbi road, the drainage work in Beneku, Ndokwa East the township roads in Kwale, the Skill Acquisition Centre in Umutu, Ukwuani LGA and many other areas of development, like the youths empowerment programmes, the agricultural development programme of the state which many youths of Ndokwa had benefitted from.
They called on Deltans to continue their supports for the administration as the government led by Okowa is doing well, and as such deserves their endorsement to see that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa is returned as the governor of the state in 2019, for him to complete the good work had started.
The leadership of the group also praised the leader in the area, Hon Ochor Ochor, and called on him to strengthening the group as the 2019 political activities draw nearer, by initiating regular interaction and update of government activities.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the three (3) LGA that make up the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, among them are Dr. Ismalia Okudaiye, co-ordinator Ukuani, Mr. Tony Onah, Ndokwa West and Chief Emma Onyeku for Ndokwa East
