OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit has been marked with street and school awareness campaign, by a Non-Government Organisations, NGO, The Nwa-Ada Ndokwa Initiative.
Members of NNI led by the Initiator, Miss Valeen Oseh and the Initiative’s Concept Director, Miss Favour Otutu took to the streets of Obiaruku to create awareness on the said topic and proceeded to Boys Secondary School, Obiaruku to end the Campaign.
The staff and students of Boys Secondary School, Obiaruku welcomed the team and gave their approval and support, where Miss Oseh extensively to the senior students on “The Dangers of Substance Abuse”.
The students were made to understand the dangers of drug abuse, as it affects not only their education, but also other aspect of their social and development of their future.
The event also featured question and answer session, and were told to take their studies serious, as they can achieve whatever they set their mind to achieve.
The event had a special feature, which was termed The Pledge, motivated over one hundred students to join the “PLEDGE NETWORK” as they all pledged to never give up on their dreams.
The theme for 2018: “Listen First – Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe.” was also keyed into. Parents are advised to give listening ear to their children and children to be confident enough to speak about any issue or event with their parents or guardians.
