ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State House of Assembly have reacted to a viral news online of the House granting the State Government the some N1.3 Billion to build Mother and Child Hospital at Governor Okowa’s home town, Owa-Alero, in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state.

Reacting to the viral news, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, said that what those spreading the news take as a breaking news is not new, as this had long been granted before the commencement of the strike by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN.

The speaker pointed out that at the time of the debate and finally granting the request, it was hailed by many, and no one raised objection. Knowing fully that it will serve all Deltans.

“The Delta State House of Assembly long ago granted the request of His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s #1. 3 Billion to build Mother and Child Centre Hospital in Owa-Alero and no dust was raised when the request was granted, rather it was applauded by all and sundry.”

“But it came as a surprise on Monday, May 17th, 2021 when some elements brought it up as a breaking news that the House led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori granted the Governor’s request. It is not a fresh request and the House has never sat since the beginning of the nationwide strike by PASAN.”

“Owa-Alero is part and parcel of the State and the Centre is to serve all Deltans. The Centre is for the benefit of all Deltans and other residents in the State. We should not play politics with everything.”

“Therefore, these misguided and mischievous elements should be ignored as Deltans are currently having a better deal under the leadership of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.”
