OZORO/Nigeria: The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Deacon Barr Kingsley Burutu Otuaro has charged Traditional rulers to join hands with government and security agencies to maintain peace in our communities to make the state free from crime.
Deacon Otuaro who represented the Governor of Delta State Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa at the ceremony of staff of office presentation to His Royal Highness, Otidi Samuel Ayeghese, The Odiologbo of Okpolo-Enhwe Kingdom, in Isoko South local government area said “this government take seriously, every issue that relates to ensuring of lives and and properties in the state “.
Governor Okowa said that “the state government has no interest in any candidate vying for the position of a traditional ruler as it believes strongly in due process and transparency in all things.”
He added, “it is heart -warming to note that the selection of His Royal Majesty, Otidi Samuel Ayegherese, was made in consonance with the customs and traditions of the Kingdom in manner that is completely devoid of any rancour ”
The state Governor continued, “your Royal Highness, while congratulating you on ascending the throne of your fore-fathers, I which to enjoin you to work with your people to accelerate the rate of development in this kingdom. I which to implore you to maintain high sense of responsibility, sincerity and always carry your people along when talking decisions that affect their welfare ”
The governor also appealed to all the people of Okpolo-Enhwe Kingdom to allow the spirit of oneness and sincerity of purpose to reflect in their support and cooperation with the Odiologbo, pointing out that development is a long time issue which requires long time to mature, just as he revealed that the the administration of Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa has robust policies and programmes, which are second to none especially in the development of every nook and cranny of the state.
He further explained to the people “you should be ready at all time, to give your best to this administration to ensure the sustenance of the gains already recorded. Our plans to build a stronger Delta State that we will all be proud of are progressing without distractions”
“It is my pleasure therefore to call on you, the good people of Odiologbo -Enwhe, to join us in realising the lofty goals that we have set for ourselves. Government alone cannot satisfy all the needs and aspirations of Deltans because the resources available to it are limited. I call on all sons and daughters of this land to come home and contribute to their quota to the economic development in particular and the state in General”
In his welcome address presented at the Occasion by the Chairman caretaker committee of Okpolo-Enhwe Clan progress Union, Pastor Akpobire Dennis (JP) on behalf of the community, said the community in one of the oldest in Isoko land which migrated from Ibo land as the community ‘ placed authority of ruler based on age and seniority before the reign of King Abeni Oja, popularly known as ( Ovie Ojuwu 1) .
He said “one of our major challenges in the Kingdom is lack of access and link roads to our neighbouring communities in Isoko and Delta State. It is of note that Okpolo-Enhwe Kingdom as an oil producing kingdom had not been reflected in the Delta State budgets for the past years and the impact of governance had not been properly felt by the people of the kingdom”
Pastor Akpobire added that “we are proud and happy that today’s event and function is happening during the time of our listening Governor, a man with high honour , Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. We strongly believed that he would do the needful in order to save us from marginalisation, politically, economically, and developmentally in Delta State”.
