DTSG Inaugurates ‘Operation Light Up Delta State’

AGBOR/Nigeria: The Delta State Government has declared “Operation Light Up Delta State” in line with the SMART Agenda of the Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa’s Administration.

The Commissioner for Energy, Mr Newworld Safugha made this known while speaking to newsmen during the inspection of streetlight projects in Agbor.

The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of work done on the old Lagos Asaba Road, Agbor but observed some minor flaws which he promised would be corrected by the contractor as soon as possible.

Mr Safugha, a lawyer, while explaining why solar powered streetlights were used, said that the Agbor project was a demonstration of renewable energy potentials in Delta State.

He stated that after the Agbor inspection, Ughelli would be the next port of call, saying that the contractor had been mobilized to site and that Oghara had also been awarded.

The Site Engineer of Raenna Nigeria Limited, Mr Julius Otegbe and the project manager, Ebonite Integrated Services, Mr Anthony Etaga who both handled the solar streetlight projects, said that motorists had been warned to drive with caution to avoid accidents that would cause any form of damage on the streetlight even as they noted that the infrastructure was structured such that vandalism would be difficult.

Some night traders who also spoke during the inspection applauded the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for a job well done, affirming that their votes for 2019 governorship election would be given to him.
