ASABA/Nigeria: The Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has approved the temporary opening of the flyover and access roads of the Koka interchange from 18th December 2022 by 12 noon.
According to a Government Special Announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Patrick Ukah, the essence of this is to ensure that there is a free flow of vehicular movement within the stretch of the Benin-Asaba-Onitsha Expressway during the yuletide season.
The statement further added that only light vehicles will be allowed to access the flyover, while all heavy-duty vehicles should maintain the use of the old route to avoid the breakdown and towing of Heavy-duty vehicles on the bridge, which might cause more traffic gridlock.
According to the statement, the government enjoined road users, transporters, and transport managers to adhere strictly to the measures put in place by relevant government agencies mandated to ensure compliance, so as to avoid traffic jams, accidents, and loss of travel time.
