ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government (DTSG) has taken a firm stance on the absenteeism of primary school teachers during the first day of the school resumption. The State Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, issued a directive requiring these teachers to appear before the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education to justify their absence.

Dr. Ashibogwu made this announcement while personally monitoring the level of compliance with the school resumption across the state. Expressing his satisfaction with the commendable compliance demonstrated by a significant number of teachers and students, he also voiced his concern about the nonchalant attitude exhibited by some primary school teachers who failed to return to their posts.

Accompanied by the Director of Schools in the Ministry, Mrs. Ighavbota Winifred, Dr. Ashibogwu sternly frowned upon the absence of these teachers and mandated them to report to Asaba, the state capital, to explain their absence when he visited their respective schools.

He underscored that the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education would not tolerate any actions that could have a detrimental impact on the education sector.

The Commissioner also directed his advice to the pupils, encouraging them to take their studies seriously and highlighting the importance of collective efforts in guiding children onto the right path.

In a show of solidarity, head teachers in various schools expressed their unreserved loyalty to the administration led by Governor Oborevwori and reaffirmed their support for the Primary Education Commissioner, commending his dedicated commitment to advancing the MORE agenda of the state government within the primary education system.
