ASABA/Nigeria: A one-day screening exercise has been conducted for candidates who applied for the Delta State Government’s Graduates Employment Enhancement Programme (GEEP).
The screening exercise which took place simultaneously in Asaba and in Warri, was organised by the State’s Job Creation Office and had in attendance 253 shortlisted candidates out of the over ten thousand persons who applied for the programme online.
Speaking for the job creation office, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Wealth Creation and the GEEP
Coordinator, Mr Chukwuka Osumili, said that the screening exercise was to physically verify the documents of shortlisted candidates to ascertain if the information given on line were same with the one in their documents.
He disclosed that the Office of the Chief Job Creation Officer in collaboration with PIND Foundation, was planning to organize a job readiness workshop for young graduate professionals who recently completed their National Youth Service Corps.
He explained that successful candidates would be offered training to build their capacities to enhance their job readiness and employability.
Two of the candidates, Onome Ekurume (Ethiope East) a Mass Communication graduate and Chukwunonso Okafor (Ika North East) who studied Science Laboratory Technology, said that they were happy to be shortlisted for screening, expressing hope that they would be invited for the training.
