ASABA/Nigeria: The Delta State Government (DTSG) in its ground rent liabilities recovery drive from defaulters has slammed some business outfits in the capital territory with seal-up penalty.
The state Taskforce on Ground Rent effected the seal-up during an enforcement exercise in Asaba.
It was gathered that the action became necessary due to the repeated refusal on the part of the business owners to pay up their ground rent liabilities.
The state government, it was also gathered, frowned at how its citizens would fail to perform their civic obligations until the use of force was applied.
It therefore warned business operators who may want to toe the same line to have a rethink or suffer same fate.
Business outfits which were sealed-up included Grand Hotel, Daimler Benz Automobile Workshop, Union of Tippers and Quarry, Edga Filling Station and Dorcas International Limited, all in Asaba.
The Taskforce carried out other activities, such as on the spot assessment of business premises to determine ground rent payable to the state government as part of the ongoing operation “show your ground rent receipt”.
Some of the business premises assessed and served demand notices were Be Done Hotel and Suites, Purple Onion Suites, Bon Hotels, Transtel Apartments and Globus Bank, among others.
