ASABA/Nigeria: Delta State Commissioner for Special Projects, Dr. Henry Sakpra, has reiterated the preparedness of the state government (DTSG) at ensuring effective security at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba, the state capital.
Dr. Sakpra gave the assurance in Asaba while speaking with newsmen shortly after a walk round the secretariat.
He said that there was the need to tighten up security in and outside; hence, the deployment of the officials of the Nigeria Security Defence Corps (NSDC) to be fully in charge of the security needs of the secretariat.
Dr. Sakpra said that the compulsory implementation of the badges, tokens and prohibition of arms carrying personnel inside the complex would commence from February 15, 2022, adding that the initiative was geared towards ensuring that the office of the Special Projects took proactive measures to avert any security issues.
He noted that the prohibition of arms carrying personnel inside the complex was another proactive measure to prevent any form of accidental discharge that could be of great consequences.
The commissioner stated that the only way proper surveillance and monitoring could be effectively employed was to be able to differentiate between internal and external individuals, explaining that the purpose of identity cards was to verify the identity of the wearer since the features carry the name , photo and office of the individual; thus ensuring easier identification of people in the complex.
