ABOH/Nigeria: As the world celebrates the mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the people of Ndokwa East had been called to pray for the local government, and keep observe the necessary guidelines to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the area.
In his Easter message to the people of the area, the Chairman, Hon. Juan Governor made available to Ndokwa Reporters, he pointed out that the council administration was lenient in the operation of the lockdown order by the governor, which began on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, by allowing business to thrive while they observe social distancing, especially allowing residents to leave their home for groceries, medical supplies and medication.
However, with the development, of cases of the coronavirus in the state, the chairman who initially was apprehensive of the rumours of relaxing the lock down order for the Easter celebration, is appealing to the people to be extremely careful, as they celebrate as the virus is real.
According to him, the warning became relevant as the local government shares boundary with Anambra, Baylesa, Imo and Rivers States, which make it difficult to monitor the people.
“Earlier this weekend, Juan was apprehensive as there were speculation that church services should hold on Easter Sunday but insisted to implement the stay at home order through the Easter period unless a counter order is issued by the state. However today, Saturday, the 11th of April 2020, he said he saw things have changed due to the newly recovered case, including the directives from the state that Christians should worship from their homes this Easter Sunday.”
The Chairman, noted that with the new discovery, the local government is not leaving any stone untoned, as the necessary measures will be applied, advising the people to do the necessary thing to keep away from the local government area.
“Today evening, some persons in Delta State have tested positive for COVID-19, and a death has been recorded as well. The positive cases are so far reportedly in Warri and Asaba with contact tracing still ongoing.”
“NELGA will be applying stricter conditions because of our vulnerability and the risk exposure due to our natural boundaries with Anambra, Imo, Rivers and Bayelsa States.”
While wishing them a successful Easter celebration, encouraged everyone to continually obey the recommended precautionary measures, stay at home and remain safe.
