ASABA/Nigeria: Former Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, has called on Christians and Nigerians to reflect on the deeper meaning of Easter, describing the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the cornerstone of hope, salvation and reconciliation between God and humanity.
In his Easter message issued on Sunday, April 5, 2026, Elumelu noted that the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, three days after His crucifixion, remains the foundation of the Christian faith and a powerful symbol of victory over death and darkness.
He said the resurrection signifies the triumph of life over death and provides humanity with a pathway to redemption and eternal life, stressing that it represents the ultimate expression of God’s unconditional love for mankind.
“Easter reminds us of the boundless love of God, who sacrificed His only Son for the salvation of humanity. It is a season that calls for deep reflection, renewed faith, and total commitment to righteous living,” he said.
The lawmaker urged Christians to rise above past shortcomings and deepen their faith in Jesus Christ, assuring that His resurrection offers a fresh start filled with hope, grace and spiritual renewal.
Elumelu also called on Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for peace, unity and security, particularly as the nation gradually moves toward the 2027 general elections.
“At this critical time in our national life, we must be relentless in prayers for unity, peace and stability. We must commit Nigeria into the hands of God as we enter another election cycle,” he stated.
He further extended prayers for global peace, with specific concern over rising tensions in the Middle East, noting that instability in the region has far-reaching implications for both global and national economies.
While appreciating the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Elumelu expressed optimism that ongoing policies and initiatives would continue to yield positive outcomes for the country.
He also commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, for his commitment to peace, security and infrastructural development across the state.
The former Minority Leader particularly praised the commissioning of the 4.8-kilometre Oko Phase 1 Road in Oshimili South Local Government Area, describing it as a clear demonstration of the governor’s dedication to improving the lives of the people.
He urged residents of Delta State to continue supporting the governor, especially as he implements the M.O.R.E Agenda aimed at driving sustainable development.
Elumelu, on behalf of his family and political associates, extended warm Easter greetings to Nigerians, particularly the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and Delta State, encouraging them to remain steadfast in faith, love and unity for a better nation.
